Another version of the ancient myth of Orpheus and Eurydice (beautiful Marpessa Dawn), this time transplanted in Brazil during the carnival in Rio. Just for the music and dancing this movie is worth watching.

As beautiful and moving as it was when I saw it many years (60) ago. And the music, too! Jobim forever!

Stunning, as is the French version "Orphee" done in the 1940's or 50's. Please acquire that also. Quite surrealistic. This however is not. But fine.

My momma forced me and my sister to watch this at her college when I was a kid. I fell in love with this film!!! Soo beautiful!

beautiful and inspiring in so many ways, it suggests that the unseen forces that exist before we are born and after we die (love and predacity) are eternally played out in the carnival of life passing through one generation to the next.

Very good movie and very cleverly done.
You get your samba and your Greek tragedy all in one go!
